The Easiest Way to Install Amplifier for Car's Audio System

Listening to music while you are driving the car is enjoyable. Rather than using an iPhone, you can consider installing amplifier to power the speakers and get amazing effect of your car's audio system that other people in your car can also listen to your favorite music. Hence, with this article we want to help you install an amplifier in your car.

The first thing to consider is the location where you want to put the amplifier. It is better to place the amplifier under the passenger's seat if you want to power the main speakers. For wiring, buy a thick power cable, 3 feet of ground cable with the same thickness as the power cable, an RCA signal cable, 16-gauge wire to power the main speaker with 12 feet per speaker, and a 'remote on' wire.

Install Using Tools

Now you need to prepare some tools, such as wire cutters, pliers, wire strippers, screwdrivers, sandpaper, a knife, and masking tape. Since you are going to power the main speakers you will need 2 crimp-on female spade connectors for every speaker in your car. If you have everything prepared, try to get some manual with instructions to take off the car dashboard. Actually you only need to take off the head unit, not the whole dashboard. It is needed to hook the wires to the back.

Now you can start the installation of the best amplifier for car. You have to make sure that everything is disconnected to electricity. This is for safety. Hence, you need to disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Take the side with the fuse of the red (positive) power cable and attach it to the connector on the positive terminal of the battery. Then you can place the fuse of the cable in the fuse holder.

Now you can attach the power cable through the firewall of your car and to the amp. Just be careful where you want to run the wire. Don't set the power cables close to the speaker wires or signal. After that, you can find a metal screw in your car which is close to the amplifier to connect the negative cable. Make sure the distance is less than 3 feet. Unscrew the bolt and clean the surface with sandpaper. Then, attach the ground to it with some O-ring. If you have done with it, fasten the screw again.

Compatibility between Speakers and Amplifiers

For successfully operation of any system there should be perfect matching of car audio amplifiers to speakers. Each channel of the amplifier should be hooked to a single speaker or speaker pairs in case of component car speakers. This gives amplifier a 4 ohm impedance load, and is the most common speaker impedance in any car audio system. Load can be dropped to most amplifiers by wiring multiple speakers in parallel.

Not all of the amplifiers can drive speaker impedances below 4 ohms. Most of them can drive 2 ohm loads, not all. Few of the high current car amplifiers can drive loads of 1 ohm or less. Such an amplifier should be chosen that is capable of driving impedance that may have problems. By decreasing the impedance load on any amplifier not only increases power but also increases distortion, heat and also the life of your amplifier. By using a 4 channel amplifier or 2- channel amplifier you will retain front to rear fading, a stereo image, and distortion will be less and amplifier will probably last longer.

The car audio subwoofers do not need to be faded or wired in stereo. It can give more option for wiring our amplifiers. By proper planning the power out of amplifiers can be squeezed through the combination of speaker wiring and amplifier bridging.
